Activating your service

Your Singapore phone number can be located on the SIM card packaging and begins 65.

To activate your service:

  1. Travel to Singapore.
  2. Be sure that the battery is adequately charged.
  3. Insert the SIM card into your GSM phone*.
  4. Turn your phone on.
  5. Activate your SIM card by making your first call.

* You will need to snap out the thumbnail sized SIM card along the perforated edge of its holder and then insert the SIM card into your international mobile phone with the gold contacts of the SIM card facing the metal contacts of your mobile phone.

^Your phone will prompt you for a 4 digit PIN code located on the back of your prepaid SIM card . The PUK is only required to unblock your phone if you enter a PIN code incorrectly 3 times. Follow your cell phone manual instructions to correctly use the PUK to unblock your phone.

Making and receiving calls

How to make a call

To make an international call from your Singapore mobile phone dial 002 followed by the country code (1 for the US), area code and phone number.

How family and friends call you

Family and friends need to dial the international prefix, the country code 65 and your mobile phone number, omitting the leading 0 (zero).
For example, when calling from the United States, callers need to dial 011 65 and then your mobile phone number.

Recharging your account

Your SIM card includes 2 EGP 50 airtime vouchers (and EGP 5 preloaded) which you may load when you arrive in Singapore.

To add credit to your SIM card, simply purchase a "Top-Up Card" from any M1 Shop, M1 Shop Concessionaire, selected authorized distributor or convenience stores in Singapore They are available in 6 denominations: S$18 (US$10), S$28 (US$16), S$48 (US$27), S$88 (US$52), S$128 (US$76) and S$188 (US$112).

To recharge your account over the phone:

  1. Call the toll-free Balance & Top-Up number at 9760 0000 from your Singapore mobile phone when in Singapore.
  2. Follow the voice instructions and key in the 16 digit Serial Number and PIN of the Top-Up card.
  3. You will be advised of the new credit balance in your M Card upon a successful top-up.

You may also top up at any SignPost S.A.M., DBS or POSB ATM and AXS station.

Do not purchase another Singapore SIM card when your credit is depleted! You only need a recharge voucher!

Service life

The M Card has an expiration date, which is indicated on the Welcome Kit. You should make your first outgoing call before this date. When you do so, the expiration date will be changed to 6 months from your first call. One week before the expiration date, you will hear announcements reminding you of the approaching expiration date when you receive incoming calls. After the expiration date, you will no longer be able to use The M Card and all unused credits cannot be recovered. You should top-up the call credits in The M Card when your credit balance is low or when the expiration date is near. After you topped up you M Card, the expiration date will be extended to 6 months from the date of your top-up.
